What may be the best-kept secret in the Bahamas is Blue Water Resort on sunny Cable Beach in the Nassau suburbs. Located where the crystal white sands meet the island’s pool-blue surf, Blue Water Resort is just the tropical escape you’ve been looking for.
Relax in your spacious villa and fix dinner in your completely appointed kitchen. There’s plenty of room for company because the three-bedroom ocean and garden villas sleep six to eight. Rent a DVD and unwind in the large, airy living room or step outside and enjoy the warm, soothing island breezes and the sounds of the unending waves on the shore.
For some serious fun in the tropical sun, hit the onsite tennis courts or jump into the beautiful pool for some ocean-side laps. Once your heart is pumping, treat yourself to the excitement of the nearby casino, go deep-sea fishing or put on your snorkel and fins and meet the neighboring wildlife.
There’s much to see and do in Nassau. Take a horse-drawn surrey tour of Nassau’s quaint downtown, including the flamingo-pink buildings of Parliament Square, which date from 1815. Do some duty-free shopping for perfume, leather, crystal or jewelry, or bargain for delightful native crafts at Festival Place.
The kids will also love Nassau. Three historic stone forts offer dungeons, cannons and passageways to explore, while the Pirates of Nassau Museum is sure to "shiver their timbers!" The flamingo show at Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Center is world-famous.
When night falls head to De Sand Bar & Grill for a light dinner, or take a ride over the bridge to the bright lights of Paradise Island. On Friday evenings, catch the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay.
It’s a vacation fit for a king on an island filled with panoramic beauty and fascinating history.
